Pleating

Pleating is down the left side of the bodice and let out across the body to give the ombre of concentration.
Pleating is down the whole main bodice of the dress. One pleat along the back princess line allows the fabric to wrap around the body, uninterrupted. The pleats are let out along the bottom, to give it that fun flare!
I love incorporating pleating into my designs! I love their look visually and the process of making them! Featured photos are from a mixture of my projects!

Draping
Draping is one of my favorite ways to start creating garments! It allows me to get close to the curves of the body and push the way fabric lays across it! Style & design in the seam-lines and structure of a garment is one of the most important aspects for me.

Entire bodice was draped to have angled style lines into a Basque waist. Gown is actually a mini dress with a ballgown skirt.
Bodice was draped to look like a closed flower bud, symbolizing the start of her journey. Process was draped to the form then converted into a paper pattern.
